Colophon
How this is made
Type
Display set in Newsreader by Production Type — a variable serif designed at the Font Bureau as an editorial reading face, with a large optical-size axis that goes from intimate to billboard. Body in Source Serif 4, Adobe's open-source revival of the form, set at its text optical size for long-form reading. Editorial meta — folios, status pills, dates — in JetBrains Mono, kept consistent across all three sister sites.
Stack
Built with Astro 5; static HTML deployed on Netlify; written in Markdown with a small remark pipeline for figures and heading dedup. No client JavaScript by default.
Editorial
Calendar and review workflow run through
deskwork,
an open-source Claude Code plugin. The calendar lives in a markdown
table at docs/editorial-calendar-writingcontrol.md; the
review journal at .deskwork/review-journal/; both are part
of the repo's history.
Family
Sister to audiocontrol.org (open source audio tools) and editorialcontrol.org (building with AI agents). Each takes a deliberately different aesthetic position; this one's the one that sits in daylight.
